Audubon Center at Debs Park is by far the best place in Northeast Los Angeles to visit with kids under 6 years old. The center is in Debs Park in Montecito Heights.

The garden/playground of the center is peaceful and beautiful.  A small pond in the middle of the garden is filled with aquatic plants and small fish are swimming around. Following a pathway, you will see a wood playhouse equipped with toy garden tools. There is a quiet clearing where trees’ branches are low enough for a small child to climb up. On top of the hill is a pump where kids can pomp up water and create a stream down the hill.

The garden is well maintained and considerably cleaner than a regular public park. Its bathrooms are very clean, too!  The center hosts many community events including summer films and nature walks. For more information, please look at their website.
